Robert M. Chesney is an American lawyer and Professor of law at The University of Texas School of Law.[1] He is also a fellow at the Brookings Institute.[2] In 2008-2009 he was a visiting scholar at the University of Texas, and a fellow at the Robert S. Strauss Center for International Security and Law. He was formerly a law professor at Wake Forest University School of Law.
United States President Barack Obama called upon Chesney to serve on a Detainee Policy Task Force in 2009.[3][4]
Chesney has written, for non-scholarly audiences, on how to respond to the threats of terrorism while complying with the rule of law.[3][5]
